My coffee-replacement Matcha latte with functional mushrooms

My coffee-replacement Matcha latte with functional mushrooms

This may be a painful truth for a lot of you to digest, but the second I cut out coffee, my energy levels became sustainable again. I stopped riding this roller coaster of extreme highs & extreme lows, which I had just accepted as “normal” for my body. I have PCOS, so I was actually experiencing extreme adrenal fatigue already and making it 10X worse by starting my day with more caffeine than necessary and not enough protein for fuel.

I eventually learned that coffee stimulates the adrenal glands to release adrenaline, causing our pituitary glands to perceive the body’s reaction as an “emergency.” Realizing that my every day 4-5pm energetic slump was a direct cause of this adrenaline crash was eye opening. It would be natural for me to be tired after work anyway, but the intensity of my exhaustion was next level. As I went through my PCOS/ hormonal imbalance journey and gradually started removing things from my diet, coffee was standing out as one of the biggest problems. This was painful for sure, I was a 2-cup a morning kind of a gal with vanilla & oat creamer. What did I have to look forward to in the mornings, then?

I found a better morning staple that I actually get so much out of. Matcha is packed with antioxidants, is great for the brain, boosts immunity & metabolism and has powerful anti-aging properties. Matcha (a fine-ground, concentrated green tea powder) delivers the desired caffeine boost in the most sustainable way, because it is naturally rich in L-theanine, an amino acid (found in many popular energy drinks) that promotes relaxation in the body, but focus in the mind. L-theanine is known to balance any possible side effects from caffeine, which is why matcha delivers concentration & clarity without the nervous energy you get from coffee.

I include two scoops of MAJU’s mental mushroom powder in this, which I can honestly say is the closest legal thing to microdosing psychedelic mushrooms. Sometimes when I have it and go for a morning walk, I feel like I just took my microdose for real for real. The clarity, focus and “HD filter” are what stand out to me the most. I’ve had days where I feel like I mircodosed, then remember, it’s just my MAJU powder;)

Aside from these positive effects, this concoction of functional mushrooms is so beneficial for the brain. As most of us take supplements for our bodies, we should remember to do the same for our minds. Formulated with Lions Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps and Chaga, this superfood blend delivers boosted mental awareness, focus, endurance & stabilzes mood, while combating anxiety, helping manage blood & sugar levels as well as strengthen the immune system.

CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS POWDER, Y’ALL:))))

If incorporating with coffee or tea, I recommend using a milk frother to fully blend the powder for a desirable consistency. It can mixed without, but the powder will most likely find its way to the bottom of the cup and you won’t get the most out of it. On the other hand, this powder works incredibly well in smoothies. Regardless of which method you choose, the taste is subtle and earthy and virtually nondedictable when mixed with a bit of sweetener.

Lengthy intro just to get to the bones of this recipe but I needed you all to understand why this is a real coffee replacement that works and is totally worth it!!!

INGREDIENTS:
Califa oat milk
Mizuba Daily Matcha powder
Vanilla Sweet drops zero calorie sweetener
Organic raw honey
MAJU mental mushrooms powder

Materials:
Large mason jar
Straw
Capresso milk frother or wand frother tool
Ice
Hot water (to melt honey)

First, add your desired amount of honey to the mason jar and pour a decent amount of hot water over it (this is just to dissolve it). Set the glass in the freezer to cool.

Add your desired milk to the frother along with 2 scoops of MAJU’s mental mushroom powder and 1 teaspoon of your matcha powder. Froth until powders are blended completely.

Pour the milk into the cooled mason jar. Add a handful of ice, then finish it off with a couple drops of the Vanilla sweetdrops (the honey is meant to sweeten it but I love the subtle vanilla flavor this adds). Stir and enjoy!
